About Templates
The four kinds of templates Wendor supports, the difference between archived and deleted, and how default templates work.
WAWritten by Wendor Admin
Templates are reusable pieces of vendor work - contracts, emails, questionnaires, and end-to-end workflows. You write each one once with merge fields for the couple-specific bits, and Wendor fills in the details every time you (or one of your automations) sends it.

The four kinds
- Contracts - the agreement a couple signs. One template can be set as your default, and Wendor reaches for it automatically when you send a contract from a booking.
- Emails - the message that goes out to couples. You can set a different default email template for each kind of message Wendor sends (contracts, deposit invoices, final invoices, instalment invoices, standalone invoices, and a fallback for everything else) - see Set Default Email Templates.
- Questionnaires - structured forms you send to couples to collect details. Each questionnaire has one or more sections, and each section has its own questions. Questions can be made mandatory and can collect either text or file uploads.
- Workflows - the full plan for a booking, organised as a board of sections (up to six columns) containing tasks (manual steps you tick off) and automations (scheduled actions like "send the deposit invoice 7 days before the wedding"). Automations can reference your contract, email, and questionnaire templates so the whole booking can run on rails.
Defaults
Contract and email templates support a default marker.
- For contracts, there's a single default - the one Wendor uses when you send a contract.
- For emails, there are six independent defaults, one per message type. The same template can't be the default for two different types.
- Questionnaires and workflows don't have defaults - you pick the one you want each time you send or apply it.
Active vs archived vs deleted
Every template has a status:
- Active - usable. Shows up in pickers, automations, and the public flows.
- Archived - hidden from pickers but kept in your library. You can unarchive at any time. Useful for retiring a template without losing its history.
- Deleted - permanently removed. Wendor asks for confirmation before deleting any template. Defaults can't be deleted or archived - pick a new default first.
Where templates show up later
- Contracts - when you send a contract from a booking, Wendor picks the default unless you choose a different one.
- Emails - when you send any message, Wendor picks the email template that matches the message type (e.g. Default for Final Invoice) unless you pick another.
- Questionnaires - when you send a questionnaire from a booking or include one in a workflow automation, you pick which template to use.
- Workflows - when you start a workflow on a booking, Wendor copies the workflow template's sections, tasks, and automations onto that booking.
