About the Recommendation Engine

After onboarding, swipe through vendor reels to teach Wendor what you like - left to skip, right to save.

The Recommendation Engine is the first thing you see after onboarding. It's a quick, swipe-based way to teach Wendor which vendors catch your eye - and which don't - so the rest of the app can show you the right matches.

Before you swipe: the intro screen

When you open the Match Maker for a category, Wendor shows a short intro explaining how it works. Read through it, tick Don't show this next time if you'd rather skip this screen in future, then tap BEGIN to start swiping.

If you've already used the engine for that category, a Skip and view full list of vendors link appears at the bottom instead.

How the swipe works

Wendor shows you short reels from vendors, one at a time. For each one:

  • Swipe right to like it.
  • Swipe left to skip it.

Up and down swipes are blocked on purpose - Wendor only needs a yes or no. On-screen hints alternate between "Like it? Swipe right" and "Skip it? Swipe left" until you've made a few decisions.

What your swipes do

Every like and skip trains your recommendations. Wendor uses them to:

  • Order vendors in the Explore tab.
  • Pick which vendors appear as featured suggestions.
  • Filter the matches you see in your Recommendation Results.

The more you swipe, the sharper your matches get. It's worth giving it a proper go on first run.

When you've swiped enough

After you've liked enough reels, Wendor shows a summary screen with two choices:

  • SEE VENDORS - jump straight to your matched vendors for this category.
  • SEE MORE REELS - keep swiping to refine your taste further.

At the end: your results

Once Wendor has processed your likes, the Recommendation Results screen opens. It shows a carousel of your top matches for the category - swipe through the cards, then tap VIEW ALL RECOMMENDATIONS to open the full list. From the full list you can tap VIEW MORE OPTIONS at the bottom to fall back to every vendor in the category.

First-run Vendors screen - Wendor pins your preferred categories at the top. Long-press a category to pin or unpin.

From there, you can tap into any vendor to view their full profile, save them to favourites, or start a chat.

View all recommendations in a category

When you're browsing a category that already has recommendations for you, Wendor shows a Recommended tab next to the regular Vendors tab. The Recommended tab lists only your matched vendors; use Refine Your Recommendations at the top to open the Match Maker again for that category.

Going back to the swipe deck

You can return to the Recommendation Engine any time from a category listing - the Vendors tab shows a Switch to our Match Maker service banner that opens the intro screen again. Every new swipe keeps refining your matches across the app.
